We love Laurelhurst Park and it is a wonderful center meeting place for Laurelhurst residents.
According to the Facebook page for the project:
The 20 year old play area equipment will be removed and replaced with new safe playground equipment. (The new toddler equipment installed in 2008 will remain.)
The community will have the opportunity to listen to ideas from the landscape designer and give input on the new equipment and design of the park.

Laurelhurst Park is slated to receive $400,000 through the 2008 Parks and Greenspaces Levy to replace the aging playground equipment.
The Play it Safe at Laurelhurst Park committee received a Small and Simple neighborhood matching grant for $15,000 for the design of the new playgroud.
Latest Status according to the Seattle Parks and Recreation Department:
Planning for this project is being completed with funding from the Department of Neighborhoods, Small and Simple Neighborhood Matching Fund(NMF).
Design Development will begin in 2012 with 2008 Parks and Green Spaces Levy Funds.
The Parks and Green Spaces Levy allocates $400,000 for the design and construction of this project.
